The belief is that Beilein's team will be competitive next year and in the NCAA tournament the year after that. But right now he is giving too many minutes to players who can't win in the Big Ten.

No. 2 LSU danced, dodged and darted its way into the end zone Monday night, turning the BCS national championship game into a horrible replay for No. 1 Ohio State. It was over early, with Matt Flynn throwing four touchdown passes in a 38-24 win. Playing at their home-away-from-home in the Big Easy, LSU (12-2) became the first two-loss team to play for the title. Shouts of "SEC! SEC!" bounced around the Superdome as the Tigers won their second BCS crown in five seasons. They are the first school to win a second title since BCS rankings began with the 1998 season. And in a season of surprises, this was hardly an upset: Ohio State once again fell apart in college football's biggest game. A year after the Buckeyes were routed by Tim Tebow and Florida 41-14 in the Arizona desert, they barely did better.
'Financial crimes' probe shuts Children's Theatre
A police investigation into "financial crimes" at the historic Palo Alto Children's Theatre has closed the theatre indefinitely, possibly for weeks, police Chief Lynne Johnson announced late Thursday. Johnson told the Weekly that an investigation has been quietly underway for several months, but that the scope of the irregularities has yet to be determined -- either as to the amount of funds or the individuals involved. "It's a very complex investigation and we're sorting it all out," she said. The investigation is a priority, she said. "Because the theatre is much beloved and longtime employees there are much beloved in the community we want to conclude the investigation as soon as possible," she said.
